In a twist fit for Hollywood, entertainment industry force Peter Guber and uber successful Bay Area venture capitalist Joe Lacob swooped in at the last minute and purchased the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.
While nearly everyone believed billionaire software tycoon Larry Ellison would be the team's next owner, it was the $450 million bid of Guber and Lacob that was chosen by Chris Cohan and topped the previous NBA record of $401 million for the Phoenix Suns in 2004.
