Kelly, who served the past two years as Golden State's General Counsel and Vice President of Basketball Legal Affairs, will be tasked in his new role with acting as the team's chief legal officer, managing matters related to the salary cap and luxury tax, and helping in the long-term financial planning of those areas. Kelly, who is in his sixth year with the Warriors, received The Recorder Magazine's 2016 In-House Impact Award recognizing California litigation practices that provided exceptional results on difficult matters for companies. Before joining Golden State in 2011, Kelly was a partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, where he gave legal counsel to such sports franchises as the Warriors, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Oakland A's, Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Blues.
