On Tuesday night, before his Warriors kicked off the most hyped season in franchise history against the Spurs, Kerr used a general question about the opener as an opportunity to discuss his former colleague. The more colorful shirt that Kerr wore in his pregame news conference was sold at the Warriors Team Store to raise money for the SagerStrong Foundation. Nate Thurmond, a Basketball Hall of Famer who played 11 of his 14 seasons with the Warriors, died July 16 after a short battle with the disease. "You guys may connect the dots that Nate Thurmond with the Warriors passed away from leukemia," Kerr said. With Damian Jones (right pectoral surgery) the Warriors' only injured player, Kerr decided to add forward James Michael McAdoo to the inactive list for Tuesdsay's opener. McAdoo, who averaged 2.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game last season, could have a tough time cracking a crowded frontcourt rotation.
