Though he could have started David West at power forward, head coach Steve Kerr gave the nod to Looney because Kerr wanted to see how he handled an expanded role. Though he impressed in the preseason with his rebounding and court awareness, Looney has had a tough time cracking a crowded frontcourt rotation. Saturday marked Brandon Rush's first time back at Oracle Arena since the shooting guard signed with Minnesota in July. During a timeout in the first quarter, he waved at fans with a smile while a short highlight clip of him played on the Jumbotron.
