The Warriors' emergence as a global brand has created major sponsorship opportunities. On Tuesday morning, the team announced a new kind of deal: It has sold space on its jersey to Japanese tech company Rakuten for the next three years. The contract is worth $20 million a year, nearly twice the second-highest NBA advertising patch deal signed by the Cavaliers, a source confirmed with The Chronicle. Beginning this season, Golden State's white jerseys will feature a patch of Rakuten's red-and-black logo. Its black and slate jerseys will have a white version of the logo.
