Skeptical critics rush to judgment, often erroneously, based on anything from a throwaway comment to personal appearance.In that sense, Becky Hammon has made an admirably seamless transition into NBA coaching.The NBA is a fairly enlightened community, and the general reaction to Hammon's ascent went something like, "Of course she is" qualified.[...] she has the background essential for her groundbreaking endeavor: heady point guard, all-time leading scorer (at Colorado State) in the WAC, U.S. Olympic team member and among the all-time greats in the WNBA.Speaking with reporters in Las Vegas on Saturday after her first game, she said serving under Popovich put me in the greatest learning space possible for a coach.Hammon is in charge of a relatively faceless group, far removed from the superstars she engages during the regular season, and that's perfect.
