Stories behind Warriors' record-setting night Golden State never trailed and led by as many as 41 points during Tuesday's 111-77 annihilation of the Lakers at Oracle Arena - the Warriors' record-setting 16th consecutive win to start a season. Here's what we were paying particular attention to, heading into the game: With a win, the Warriors would open the season 16-0, passing the 1948 Washington Capitols and the 1993 Houston Rockets for the league's longest unbeaten start. The Lakers didn't play like gangbusters or anything close to it. The Warriors dominance prompted a funny back and forth between interim head coach Luke Walton and point guard Stephen Curry. Told of Walton's belief that the Warriors will, indeed, lose at some point during the regular season, Curry joked: I doubt it. The Warriors won't go 82-0, but the next two historic numbers they might target are the 1971-72 Lakers' 33-game winning streak and the 1995-96 Bulls' 72-win season. The Lakers still hold a 249-155 all-time advantage over the Warriors, but Golden State has won five straight meetings at home for the first time since a seven-game streak from 1993 through '95.
