Warriors backup center Anderson Varejao carried the Olympic torch for Brazil, but he won't be able to compete in next month's games. Varejao was diagnosed with a small lower back disc herniation after being examined this week by Dr. Robert Watkins at the Marina Spine Center in Marina Del Rey, according to the Warriors. The 6-foot-10, 33-year-old averaged 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 8.5 minutes after joining the Warriors midseason in 2015-16. He re-signed for a veteran's minimum contract this month.
