Warriors: McGee’s chances of making team improving
With a week until teams are required to trim their rosters to 15 players, McGee is the favorite to fill the Warriors' final spot. After a penchant for head-scratching plays and a slow-healing left leg injury limited him to 62 games in three seasons, the 7-foot, 270-pound McGee received no guaranteed contract offers over the summer. Through five preseason games, McGee has kept the focus on what he does best: run the floor, block shots, and rebound. "You can tell he's getting more comfortable," assistant coach Mike Brown said of McGee, who is averaging 4.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 10.6 minutes per game. Though guards Cameron Jones and Phil Pressey have shown flashes of potential, they will have a tough time cracking an already crowded backcourt. Guard Elliot Williams, the only one of the six original training camp invitees on a partially guaranteed contract, has been sidelined all preseason with a right knee injury.
