Three weeks ago, Steve Kerr was so concerned about Kevon Looney's conditioning that he considered not using the second-year forward in the Warriors' preseason opener. On Sunday, two days before its regular-season opener against San Antonio, Golden State picked up the third-year contract option on Looney. The 30th pick of the 2015 NBA draft, he averaged 3.7 points and 4.5 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game this preseason. Looney, who recorded nine rebounds in back-to-back preseason games, should buoy a Warriors team that lost two of its top three rebounders, Andrew Bogut and Festus Ezeli, in the wake of the Kevin Durant signing. In a three-game span before Golden State's preseason finale Friday against Portland, Looney had 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting with 18 rebounds and four assists. Roster choice: Because rookie center Damian Jones (right pectoral surgery) is the Warriors' only injured player, Kerr will need to add someone to the inactive list for Tuesday's game against San Antonio.
