Because he played for that 1995-96 Chicago team that won 72 games, Kerr recognized how many things would need to align for a franchise to win 73. Motivated by the desire to silence anyone who doubted their surprising run to the 2015 NBA title, the Warriors delivered playoff-level effort each game last season. Though it's unclear whether Golden State's race for that record cost it a second consecutive championship, what can't be disputed is that it was not the same team in the games that mattered most. The Warriors went 15-9 in the playoffs, including their historic collapse in the Finals, after not losing back-to-back games in the regular season. The focus is on earning the Western Conference's top seed and staying healthy for another shot at an NBA title. The Warriors' media availability was cut short Wednesday afternoon for a National Basketball Players Association meeting, where the collective bargaining agreement talks were expected to be discussed.
