If you grew up in the 1990s, or maybe you were an adult still acting like a kid in the 90s, you likely equate making two shots in a row with “heating up”, and a third consecutive made shot means that you’re “on fire.” The NBA Jam phenomenon is felt far beyond the world of 16-bit video game consoles. It was a pioneer in using licensed teams and players in exaggerated gameplay scenarios, and its effect on pop culture continues to be felt today.
