SAN ANTONIO — The Spurs will "likely" be without Kawhi Leonard again for Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on Monday, head coach Gregg Popovich told reporters after practice Sunday. Leonard missed Game 6 of the Western Conference semifinals against Houston after spraining the ankle in the fourth quarter of Game 5. With the Spurs facing a 3-0 hole to Golden State, they probably won't want to risk worsening the MVP candidate's injury when the odds of them winning the series would be long even with him healthy. Leonard's continued absence is a major blow to the Spurs. In addition to being a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, he leads San Antonio this postseason in scoring (27.7), rebounding (7.8), assists (4.6) and steals (1.7). Popovich also said Sunday that Spurs forward David Lee, who sustained a left knee injury late in the first quarter of Game 3 while coming down on a layup attempt, will "probably" miss Game 4.
