Three takeaways from Warriors' Summer League loss to Boston Through five Summer League games, McCaw is playing with the poise of a player who contributed in Game 5 of the NBA Finals last month. [...] he hardly looked like a potential rotation player for the defending NBA champs. The 7-foot, 245-pound project finished with six points on 3-for-11 shooting to go with three rebounds and zero blocks. Injuries derailed Looney's first two NBA seasons. After two hip surgeries limited him to five games as a rookie in 2015-16, he sat the entire playoffs this past spring with left foot pain. The hope was that Looney, seemingly healthy, would showcase the rebounding and passing ability that made him a first-round pick out of UCLA in 2015. [...] through five Summer League games, he has lacked explosiveness and looked overwhelmed at times against players destined for overseas careers. Would Golden State be best off waiving Looney before training camp to free up a roster spot for a more promising young player?
