With USA Basketball expected to hand the reins to Erik Spoelstra for the next Olympic cycle, the Miami Heat coach already has the backing of someone who knows the job best — Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who just led Team USA to its fifth straight Olympic gold medal in Paris last summer.“I mean, Spo is incredible — he’s a phenomenal coach,” Kerr said Friday. “Just watching him the last two summers and getting to know him up close rather than just from afar, where I’ve admired him for so long, I got a firsthand glimpse at what a great coach he is.” Asked Warriors’ Steve Kerr on Erik Spoelstra being named head coach for Team USA at the 2028 Olympics: “Spo’s an incredible, phenomenal coach.
