PHOENIX – Warriors coach Steve Kerr opened his pregame press conference Thursday night before his team’s game against the Phoenix Suns by thanking Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga for their time and contributions to the franchise hours after they officially were traded to the Atlanta Hawks. In return, the Warriors received 7-foot-2 veteran big man Kristaps Porzingis. Kerr called Hield “honestly one of the best teammates I’ve ever seen in my life.” Hield was a constant source of joy and laughter in the Warriors’ locker room, as well as on and off the court. Hield played all 82 games last season, his first with the Warriors, and averaged 11.1 points while shooting 37 percent from 3-point range. But his 3-point percentage dropped to a career-low 34.4 percent this season, and Hield was a healthy DNP (Did Not Play) in seven games. He forever will be remembered by Warriors fans for his Game 7 performance last season against the Houston Rockets.
