One last chance to prove the Warriors still had the goods to win a couple of playoff series and perhaps even reach the NBA Finals.That’s all Steve Kerr wanted and believed he could have, according to multiple league sources.Kerr arrived at training camp mentally prepared for the 2025-26 NBA season to close his 12-year tenure as head coach of the Warriors. Whispers heard around the NBA last summer were reinforced when Kerr quickly and firmly dismissed the idea of extending his contract.“I’m very comfortable just going into this season with a year left,” Kerr said last September. “I’m so aligned with (general manager Mike Dunleavy) and (CEO Joe Lacob). There’s no reason for discussion or concern.
