Age ain’t nothing but a number – at least that’s what Warriors first-round pick Yaxel Lendeborg believes.Ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft, plenty of media outlets mentioned the 23-year-old’s age when summing up the No. 11 overall pick.
Lendeborg sat down with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Bonta Hill and Monte Poole and discussed hearing about his age.
“Honestly man, I liked hearing it,” Lendeborg told Hill and Poole. “In a way, it’s giving me extra motivation. You guys are acting like I’m really 45 years old. I’m 23 years old. Most players get into their prime around this age and get better still. This is going to be my first year in the NBA, this is going to be my first year having an actual offseason, summer training, all that stuff.”
Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy mentioned Lendeborg’s age while speaking with reporters following the first round of the draft and said, “He’s, what, 23, almost 24? I’m not worried because he’s not 38.”
In 2024, the average age of first-round draft picks was 20 years, 229 days according to HoopsHype....
