And after a decade in the Bay, Looney signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. However, the Pelicans declined his $8 million option for the 2026-27 season, making the veteran big man an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Last season, Looney was slowed by a left knee injury he suffered during the preseason. He played just 21 games (eight starts) with New Orleans, and the Pelicans finished 11th in the West with a 26-56 record.
