The few weeks of fun imagining LeBron James in a Warriors jersey were squashed Friday. Any memories of the perfect basketball LeBron and Steph Curry displayed together as Team USA teammates at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics remain a beautiful moment instead of a Warriors actuality. James is not joining the Warriors. Nor is he returning to Cleveland for a storybook ending or completing unfinished business in Miami. James on Friday announced he’s signing with the Philadelphia 76ers for the final destination of his storied NBA career, giving him a chance to win a championship for four different franchises.
The Cavs still should contend in the Eastern Conference. So should the Heat, even with James coming to Philadelphia. That brings us back to the Warriors and a big question with a horse-pill-sized answer to try and swallow: Are the Warriors the biggest losers in the LeBron sweepstakes?
