Once again, the NBA schedule smacks the Warriors with the blunt end of the back-to-back equation.The league’s 2026-27 schedule released Thursday shows Golden State will have 15 back-to-back sets, an above-average total among NBA teams.
It’s one fewer set than last season, when the Warriors were among the 15 teams scheduled for a league-high 16 back-to-back sets. The league low in 2025-26 was 13 such sets, with five teams, including the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
Considering the age and frailty of Golden State’s roster, another season on the high end of back-to-back sets presents yet another challenge.
Projected backup center Al Horford is 40. Stephen Curry is 38, wing Jimmy Butler III will be 37 next month and enters the season rehabbing in the wake of surgery to repair a torn right ACL. Forward Draymond Green is 36. Forward Gary Payton II is 33. Projected starting center Kristaps Porziis is 31 but has an extensive injury/illness history.
