Finally, the Warriors on Tuesday made an external move to their roster. Point guard Brandon Williams agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million contract with the Warriors in unrestricted free agency, his agents Derek Layafette and Curtis Lawrence told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Williams brings more guard depth to the Warriors after enjoying a career year in Dallas. The 26-year-old who turns 27 in late November played a career-high 66 games last season for the Mavericks, starting 15 and averaging a career-high 13.0 points per game, while tying his career high of 3.9 assists per game. He’s a young guard with experience who brings a different element the Warriors certainly needed.
They themselves should know all about how Williams can impact a game, as he showed against the Warriors in two games last season. Williams averaged 22.5 points in two games against the Warriors last season, his most against any team playing multiple games, and shot 72.7 percent from the field (16 of 22). He also went 12 of 15 from the free-throw line (80 percent) in those two games.
