Former Warriors star Klay Thompson signed with the Miami Heat on Sunday, adding another shooter to their lineup to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo.Thompson’s two-year stint with the Dallas Mavericks didn’t go the way he or the team envisioned as they failed to make a true push in the Western Conference and dealt with a string of injuries over the two seasons.
Now, with Thompson joining another championship-caliber team – on paper – his former teammate Draymond Green is trying to relay a message around the Klay narrative before the season tips off.
“I don’t like how everybody’s trying to act like, ‘Oh man, it’s Klay Thompson’ like Klay to the Heat, like this is Klay of 2018,” Green said on “The Draymond Green Show.” “The reason I don’t like it is because I feel like everybody’s trying to set Klay up for failure. And so, I’m going to say it right here, right now. Let’s stop acting like 2017 Klay is going to Miami.
