A general manager’s job in any sport is to make the hard decisions, but that doesn’t mean the decisions made don’t affect the person making them.For former Warriors GM Bob Myers, one particular decision is the hardest he made during his Golden State tenure.
“Trading [Andre] Iguodala,” Myers said on “Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady.” “We had to trade Iguodala, who had won three championships with the team, in 2019 to sign D’Angelo Russell. And the way he took it, the professionalism, made it, as far as a player handling a tough thing, that I’ve never seen one do it as well as he did in that moment.” Iguodala played six seasons with the Warriors during his first stint with the team and finished top-four in Sixth Man of the Year voting three times. He also earned NBA Finals MVP after the team’s first title in 2014-15.
It was the third time Iguodala had been traded in his career after being dealt from Philadelphia to Denver in 2012 before being traded to the Warriors in 2013 after reaching an agreement with them in free agency.
