The question posed to Warriors coach Steve Kerr was simple: “What would you consider satisfactory next season?” He dodged it like a world-class middleweight.“You get into the danger zone when you start trying to predict stuff,” Kerr told NBC Sports Bay Area on Thursday. “For me, this is all about the process and what we’re doing day in and day out. This is a season where we’ve got to get back to our values, our basics, supporting each other, bringing great attention to detail day in and day out.
“That starts with our staff having a great camp, really being prepared for everything we’re going to face this year, and we have to convey that to the players.”
The days of championship-or-bust have long passed. There is no announced quest for home-court advantage in the first round of the 2027 NBA playoffs. No expressing a desire for a top-six finish in the Western Conference. Not even playoffs or bust.
Nor was there a “We’ll show the doubters” vow.
