Steph Curry announced he has a new signature shoe on the way. He also used the occasion to make his intentions with the Warriors unmistakably clear. Curry told CNBC on Thursday that his signature shoe with Li-Ning, the Chinese footwear company he signed a reported 10-year, $400 million contract with after 13 years with Under Armour, will debut early next year. He called the split with Under Armour “mutual” and said he holds no regrets about how it played out, adding that Li-Ning ultimately won him over because “the product reigned supreme.”
Until his own shoe releases, Curry said he will wear Li-Ning models designed by Warriors teammate Jimmy Butler and Hall of Fame guard Dwyane Wade, both of whom also represent the brand.
The bigger news for the Warriors’ audience came when the conversation turned to his own future. Entering his 18th NBA season with his contract set to expire in 2027, Curry made it clear he has no interest in testing free agency or walking away from the franchise that drafted him.
“I want to be a lifer with Golden State,” Curry said.
