The Warriors’ battle with the turnover bug was a primary reason behind the team’s struggles last season.Their 15.7 turnovers per game was the third-highest mark in the league during the 2025-26 NBA season and Golden State’s second-highest mark in 12 campaigns under coach Steve Kerr.

So, how will they fix that problem entering a new year when the margin for error is thinner than ever?

It’s starting at the top, as Kerr explained Monday during Warriors media day at Chase Center when asked if there will be any sort of “punishment” for turnovers this season.

“I’ve always told Steph [Curry] and Draymond [Green] that they’re allowed to commit five or six [turnovers] between the two of them, and I’ve told them that in front of the team, because I always believed that they were the ones handling the ball the most,” Kerr said. “Our team was built in such a way that I literally told everybody, ‘All of you guys have to take care of the ball. They’re allowed to turn it over six times.’
