The Warriors are heading to Hawaii on Monday to open training camp for the 2026-27 NBA season, and will enter the campaign with their cornerstone player committed for the near future.Steph Curry signed a two-year, $116 million extension with the franchise late last week, keeping the two-time NBA MVP in the Bay Area possibly through the 2028-29 season.
The process to get the deal done was not easy, and at media day, Curry spoke on his decision to re-sign and what led to things being finalized.
“It was a very kind of thoughtful journey, partnership of putting all the different scenarios out there,” Curry told reporters. “It was of interest of making sure I was here, figuring out what was in the best setup for me, for the team, for the now, for the flexibility the rest of my career. So trying to balance all of that, it was such a unique situation with all the circumstances of, again, where we’ve been the last four years, what’s currently on the table, and where we’re trying to go to be competitive and give ourselves a chance.
