LAIE, Hawaii – Warriors coach Steve Kerr described the first day of training for the 2026-27 NBA season on the campus of BYU-Hawaii as “good,” “spirited,” and “competitive.” The focus was installing new concepts defensively and offensively, naturally bringing a bit of chaos. After an early media day Monday morning, the Warriors flew to Hawaii and had a later practice Tuesday. While they did go live on Day 1, it was hardly an intense scrimmage.

“It was controlled for all the live stuff,” Kerr said. “It was up and back maybe three times max. So it was controlled. We were trying to work on our transition defense, halfcourt execution.”

Did anything specifically stand out to Kerr?

“Nope,” he said. “Just a good, solid practice.”
