BOX SCOREFor the second consecutive season the Warriors opened their season against the Lakers in Los Angeles, and they are considerably more pleased with outcome Wednesday night.
At least with their work in the first quarter.
Once the second quarter began, though, the Lakers turned on their bully machine at Crypto.com Arena, and the Warriors were victimized in a 127-105 loss in their introduction to the 2026-27 season.
Golden State ended the first quarter trailing by one (34-33) before being outscored 68-35 – giving away 23 points off turnovers – over second and third quarters. The fourth quarter was so gratuitous that Stephen Curry and Draymond Green watched from the bench.
LA showed no sign of missing the departed LeBron James, while the Warriors showed every sign of missing the rehabilitating Jimmy Butler III and the presence of Kristaps Porzingis, who likely has played his last game with Golden State and perhaps in the NBA.
Curry led the Warriors with 23 points. Free-agent pickup Brandon Williams added 14 points, rookie Yaxel Lendeborg and Gui Santos each put in 12.
