NBA decides to stick with June 4 start for Finals

HOUSTON — After considering the possibility of moving up the start of the NBA Finals to June 2, the league has decided to stick with its original schedule — playing Thursdays, Sundays and Tuesdays beginning June 4.The Warriors and Cavaliers both took 3-0 series leads, which raised the possibility of sweeps in both conference finals for the first time since the NBA moved to a best-of-seven format.[...] if the Cavaliers close out the Hawks on Tuesday, Cleveland would have eight days before the NBA Finals' opener.Ultimately, the NBA decided that TV, hotel and travel commitments made the move to June 2 impractical.Marreese Speights (right calf) is running stairs and is expected to get on the court during the next day or two, according to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.A group led by co-owner Peter Guber and president Rick Welts inspected nearly every inch of the Toyota Center as they continued their detailed plans for a new state-of-the-art arena in San Francisco.
