Draymond Green’s high school talk fit for Warriors, too

Draymond Green was giving a pregame address to a high school team Friday night, when he realized he could be giving the same speech to his teammates. Before University of Detroit Jesuit High beat Brother Rice High 59-12, Green told Michigan State-signee Cassius Winton and his Jesuit teammates to avoid playing down to the competition. The Warriors had dropped to second in the league in scoring differential (11.9 per game), falling behind the San Antonio Spurs (13.9). Stephen Curry scored 22 points in the Warriors' 109-95 victory over Detroit on Nov. 9, but the MVP was limited to 7-of-18 shooting and forced into five turnovers by Pistons shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Ahead of the Warriors' rematch with the Pistons on Saturday night, Detroit head coach Stan Van Gundy tried to cool the "Curry stopper" talk. Forward Harrison Barnes was back in the starting lineup Saturday, his first start since going down with an ankle injury Nov. 27. Barnes came off the bench, averaging 11 points and four rebounds, in his first seven games after returning from 16-game absence because of a high ankle sprain and bone bruise.
