Nate Thurmond grabbed 42 rebounds in a 107-102 San Francisco Warriors win against the Detroit Pistons in front of 2,436 fans at the San Francisco Civic Auditorium on Nov. 9, 1965. Thurmond, who coincidentally wore #42, played all 48 minutes of the contest, scoring 18 points to help lead the Warriors to victory. His 42 boards remain a franchise record in the Warriors’ West Coast Era (since 1962-63), although Wilt Chamberlain owns the franchise’s all-time and NBA record with 55 boards in a game (Philadelphia Warriors vs. Boston Celtics, November 24, 1960).
