Brazilian big man Anderson Varejao was released Friday by the Golden State Warriors, opening a roster spot for the NBA's winningest club that appears to be for guard Briante Weber. Varejao, a 34-year-old center, appeared in 14 games for the Warriors this season, averaging 1.3 points and 1.9 rebounds. The Sun-Sentinel newspaper in South Florida reported that former Miami Heat guard Briante Weber, 24, accepted a 10-day contract with the Warriors over offers from Miami and Charlotte.
