Kevin Durant powers Warriors to win in Oklahoma City return

OKLAHOMA CITY — The chant first emanated from a sellout Chesapeake Energy Arena crowd midway through the second quarter Saturday night: "CUUUP-CAKE!" Kevin Durant, standing on the low block as former running mate Russell Westbrook attempted foul shots, knew what this meant. During Durant's eight seasons with the Thunder, he and his teammates had taken to calling people "cupcake" when they thought someone was acting weak. In Durant's first game back here since signing with the Warriors, that baked good became a theme: a young girl dressed as one; an obese man near Oklahoma City's bench bore it in paint on his chest; signs with its likeness dotted the crowd. On a Saturday night marked by emotion, a player once considered this city's adopted son again reminded Thunder fans why that July 4 he announced his departure on the Players' Tribune website caused such heartache. By outscoring the Thunder 43-26 in the second quarter, the Warriors built a 23-point halftime lead. Westbrook, whose 47 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists helped make up for 11 turnovers, ensured that the game wasn't effectively decided until Durant's three-point dagger from the top of the arc with 3:39 left...
