A prohibitive favorite to repeat as three-point contest champion, the Warriors shooting guard had fallen one point shy of reaching the final round. Thompson made only two of his five shots on the last "money ball" rack, leaving him to watch Charlotte's Kemba Walker, Houston's Eric Gordon and Cleveland's Kyrie Irving move forward. Eager to capture last year's brilliance, when he netted a record-tying 27 points in the final round to win his first three-point contest, Thompson again chose to make the "money ball" rack his last rack. After a strong start, he missed several three-pointers in a row when it mattered most.
