Gary Payton: Curry shows new breed of point guards

Oakland native Gary Payton carved out a Hall-of-Fame career as a rugged, old-school point guard. So while Payton admires Stephen Curry of the Warriors, he's also not ready to proclaim him one of the all-time greats. "The position has changed very much," Payton said at Oracle Arena on the eve of the NBA Finals. "Everybody is saying he's one of the greatest point guards, but we can't say that right now. That's not going to happen. To me, a true point guard is getting assists, getting steals, doing everything. "Now as a great shooter? Definitely. As a scorer? Definitely. That's where the era has changed — you've converted 2 guards into 1 guards.
