NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Thursday the league has no plans to change its longtime policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem, in the wake of the NFL adopting a similar rule last week. The NFL's decision followed a tumultuous season in which several players — sometimes, nearly entire teams — knelt during the anthem to protest racial injustice. Their protests brought harsh condemnation from President Trump, and some backlash from fans. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr called the NFL's new policy "idiotic" during the Western Conference finals. Kerr suggested NBA ownership works more collaboratively with its players; NFL owners unilaterally imposed their anthem rule.
