WASHINGTON — In the wake of the injury to All-Star forward Kevin Durant, the Warriors are reportedly going to sign Matt Barnes, a former Warrior, according to published reports. Even though Golden State has yet to receive the MRI results on Durant's hyperextended left knee, Barnes is being added as an insurance option. Barnes, who was waived by the Kings on Feb. 20, confirmed the news to The Undefeated's Marc Spears, saying "It's a dream come true! I feel like I helped start something in '07 and now I'm coming back to help finish it." The first of those two seasons was the Warriors' "We Believe" team which became the first No. 8 playoff seed to beat a No. 1 in a seven-game set when it ousted Dallas in six games. A career 8.2 points-per-game scorer, the 6-foot-7, 226-pound Barnes has also played for the Clippers, Lakers, Magic, Suns, 76ers and Knicks. In the two games Durant has missed or been limited during the past week, Curry has totaled 52 points, nine assists, 12 rebounds and six steals.
